How to reach Ladakh from Mumbai

There is no direct route to Ladakh from Mumbai. You may need to change several paths.There are two routes to reach Ladakh, first from Srinagar to Leh and second from Manali to Leh.

From Srinagar, Ladakh passes through the Zojila Pass, while from Manali, Ladakh passes through the Rohtang Pass. Many people also travel to Ladakh by their bikes, some go to Ladakh by car. Direct buses ply from Jammu, Srinagar and Delhi to Ladakh. Buses from Jammu Kashmir State Transport and Himachal Pradesh Transport go to Leh.

It takes about 5 days to reach Ladakh bus from Mumbai because you need which is quite tedious and difficult. If you are thinking of going to Ladakh by bike or car, then keep the bike tank full as there are very few petrol pumps on the way and even if there is no time to turn them on.

Railroad


Jammu Tawi, the railway station closest to Ladakh, is about 700 km from Ladakh. You will have to travel further by taxi or bus. It takes about two days to reach Ladakh from Jammu Tawi and the taxi fare is also around 9-10 thousand rupees.

Airways


The best way to reach Ladakh is by air. It is also easy and accessible. Direct flight services are available from major cities of the country to Leh. The timing of winter and summer flights can vary depending on the weather. Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochi Airport is the main airport here. Leh Airport is a military airport, so security checks here are strict compared to other airports.

When to go to Ladakh


The tourist season in Ladakh starts from April which lasts till August, this season is the summer season in Ladakh, therefore most tourists come to Ladakh in this season. But some people also like the winter season when there are very few tourists and the landscape of Ladakh completely changes. The river sheet of Ladakh turns into a track, which has a different experience of tracking. It is very cold during this time and the whole area is covered with snow.
